  • Profile Information: Optional profile picture and 160-character bio
  • Content: Blinks (posts), images, videos, and Chimes (comments)
  • Interactions: Pulses (likes), Loops (reposts), and users you Link (follow)

Information Collected Automatically:

  • Usage Data: General activity within the platform (e.g., pages viewed, actions taken)
  • Device Information: Browser type, IP address, and operating system
  • Cookies: Session authentication tokens used only for login security

2. How We Use Your Information

We use your information to:

  • Provide and maintain the Blink platform
  • Support account creation and login
  • Display your content and interactions publicly
  • Notify you about activity on your content (if enabled)
  • Detect and prevent abuse, spam, or fraud

3. Information Sharing

We may share your information in limited cases:

  • Publicly: Your posts, username, and public profile are visible to other users

We do not sell or rent your personal information to third parties.

4. Data Storage and Security

  • Your data is stored securely on servers managed by MongoDB Atlas
  • Passwords are encrypted using bcrypt
  • Media files are hosted through Cloudinary
  • We use HTTPS for secure data transmission
  • Session tokens automatically expire after 7 days of inactivity

5. Your Rights

Depending on your location, you may have the right to:

  • Access: Request a copy of your stored information
  • Correction: Update your email, bio, or profile picture
  • Deletion: Request deletion of your account and content
  • Objection: Object to data processing where applicable by law

Blink is not intended for children under 13, or under the age of digital consent in your country. We do not knowingly collect data from minors under this threshold.

7. Data Retention

We retain account information as long as your profile is active. Upon account deletion, personal data is permanently deleted from our systems within 30 days unless legally required to retain it longer.

8. California Privacy Rights

California residents are entitled to the following under the CCPA:

  • Know what personal information we collect
  • Access and delete your data upon request
  • Opt out of any sale or disclosure of your data (we do not sell data)
  • Not be discriminated against for exercising your rights

9. International Users

Blink is accessible worldwide and operated from the United States. By using the Service, you consent to the transfer and storage of your data in the U.S., and acknowledge that local privacy laws may differ from those in your country.

We may update this Privacy Policy to reflect platform changes or legal requirements. Material updates will be posted here with an updated effective date. Continued use of Blink after changes indicates acceptance.
